How long does a car from Korea take to reach Kazakhstan
From purchase to handover, 35–50 days. The sea leg Pusan — Vladivostok is 3–10 days, clearance 5–14 days, rail on to Almaty or Astana 12–20 days. A route through a Chinese port with a transfer to rail is an alternative with a similar duration. Times are approximate; we agree the route for your car.

What is the import duty on a car from Korea to Kazakhstan in 2026
The duty is a union rate, the same as in Russia: the EAEU single rate for a private person, €1.5–3.6 per cm³ by displacement for a car aged 3 to 5 years, VAT inside it. For 1.6 l it is 2.5 €/cm³, for 2.0 l 2.7 €/cm³, for 2.5 l 3.0 €/cm³. Plus a declaration fee of 6 MRP = ₸25,950.
The table of rates per cm³ is common to all four EAEU countries. Worked example: a BMW 420i, 1,998 cm³, four years old — 1,998 × 2.7 € = ₸2,738,677.
The 2026 MRP is ₸4,325. The declaration fee, the recycling fee and first registration are all counted from it, so almost the whole of the state's share depends on this one figure.

What are the recycling fee and first registration in Kazakhstan in 2026
The recycling fee = 50 MRP × a coefficient by displacement: 1.5 up to 1,000 cm³, 3.5 up to 2,000, 5.0 up to 3,000, 11.5 above. At an MRP of ₸4,325 that is ₸324,375 to ₸2,486,875. First registration is 500 MRP, that is ₸2,162,500 on a car three years or older. Together these are the largest charge in the country.
The fee = 50 MRP × a coefficient from annex 4 to the recycling-payment methodology. It is paid before first registration.

- In the edition in force the table has two coefficient columns. «Coefficient 1» covers cars from any country other than Russia and Belarus; «Coefficient 2» covers those imported from Russia or Belarus and is an order of magnitude higher. Our route is Korea, so it is always Coefficient 1. «Zero recycling fee on an electric car» holds only for an import that is not from Russia or Belarus.
What does registering the car in Kazakhstan cost
First registration is charged by age, the year of manufacture included: under 2 years ₸1,081, 2 to 3 years ₸216,250, 3 years and older ₸2,162,500. The registration certificate and plates are a further ₸17,516. For an electric car the fee is exactly half at every age band.
This is the key fact about Kazakhstan. For a car three years or older you pay ₸2,162,500 for first registration plus ₸324,375 to ₸2,486,875 of recycling fee. On top of the duty that is about 2.9 to 4.6 million tenge. For a typical used Korean car that is often more than its price. Under two years registration costs ₸1,081 instead of ₸2,162,500 — two thousand times less.

What is the duty on an electric car from Korea to Kazakhstan
Since 01.01.2026 there is no relief. The union exemption that freed a private person from both duty and taxes expired on 31.12.2025, and Kazakhstan is not in the 2026 exemption. The duty is 15 % of the customs value and VAT at 16% is charged on both channels. The recycling fee, though, is nil, and first registration is half.
The nil recycling fee is confirmed against the text of both editions of annex 4. Hybrids are expressly excluded from that row: a hybrid is counted by displacement, like an ordinary car.
